As long as the real time protection is rinning, the
gcasServ.exe consumes more amd more memory until I get a
low memory warning. The only way to release the memory is
to disable it and then restart it. then it starts over
again. I am using 2000 pro and ie6.

Try using a memory manager. I use "FreeRam XP". If you
open Task Manager and then right click on FreeRam in the
systray and request either auto run or a size that works
for you, you will notice the amount of memory usage that
spyware program uses will dwindle. I have 512mb RAM and
try to free 308mb. Usually I have to run it a couple of
times. Hope this helps you out, it works for me.

This sounds like a bug to me. Can you describe the machine and what else is
running at the time you see this behavior?

try uninstal and again download it and install it, workt
for me (crashing laptop after install ms antispy on
win2000) i had also a memory problem and i have read a lot
of times here: try instal again , worth the try

It's a huge memory leak that needs to be fixed.
See link below..

"As of February 2005, two major problems exist with this software, it
adds a huge latency into the windows system sometimes causing
processes to delay loading by as much as 10 seconds. While this is
tolerable for some people, it is a huge headache for others. The other
problem is that there is a known memory leak in the program causing it
to eat away windows memory over time until the system runs out of
memory.

When Microsoft bought the company that made this product there was
another company called Sunbelt Software that made a similar product
that was based on the same programming (There was a deal between
Sunbelt Software and Giant Company).

In our lengthy communication with Sunbelt Software in February 2005,
we were told that the Sunbelt Software product called was being
redesigned to eliminate the latency problem and to deal with the known
memory leak. There is no indication that Microsoft is addressing these
problems even though they have been reported."

I'll check out your link later, but I would suggest that it is a little
early to fear that Microsoft isn't working on fixing the root issue.
