I have 2x 168 pin SDRAM PC133 512MB memory modules with a bad memory
chip on each.

address (from 0) 1E16B1F4 (504803828) returning DQ 34 bit stuck high

address (from 0) 1B65272C (459613996) returning DQ34 bit stuck low

Yeah, I thought that was strange too, same bit one high, one low.
got them from the same place at the same time and just figured out the
problem after warranty.

the question is which chip on a 32Mx8 module (16 chips, 8 per side) is
bad?

What is the mapping of this?
Does one side go to 256MB and the other to 512MB?
That would make it the 5th IC on the back side according to DocMem
program. But that view just shows one sided modules.

thx

What brand and model motherboard are you using?? I had a K7S5A pro that
experienced the same symptoms. The fault had to do with how the MB
accessed the RAM and how the RAM architecture was laid out.
