My newly installed windows vista 64 bit ultimate consume 2.21 GB momoey just
by browsing web pages. Response is also very slow.

You will get 2 types of responses:
1) from Microsoft zombies> Its YOUR fault or some driver
2) My response> Vista sucks

The truth> Vista sucks

vista is designed to use max memory, its far moor efficient than hard drive.
mine usually averages 700 mb out of 1gb.

try turning off add on and /or phishing filter.

I guess we know now that you fall into the first category...
You should take those bandages off mr zombie from time to time to take a
shower...

The stench is to intense.. it passes through the internet! Piiiiieeewww

OK that's just crazy talk. Any OS that consumes 2.2GB of ram, by browsing the web has issues. I don't think you need to cache everything on the internet and if they are reporting slow surfing, then how is that better than XP and hard drive usage ?

I think there is another problem going on, but I can't believe you can suggest that consuming 2.2GB of ram is acceptable behavior

Are you asking a question or just making a statement ?

What webpages are you going to ? what else do you have running ? How much
memory is in the system. How do you know it's using 2.2GB ? Are you looking
at performance under Taskmanager's memory chart or looking at the cached
memory section ?

Inquiring minds wanna know.

I'm running Vista64 and have surfed quit a bit and I've never seen memory
usage get above 800MB. Myspace.com has some very bloated pages that can
cause IE to consume up to 180MB of ram, for just one page. But normally,
when I leave that page the memory usage goes down.
