Memory gone! HELP!

I plugged my camera into my computer and when I disconnected it the camera
which had 16MB of memory can only take 7 pictures now and my memory card
which was 128MB can only take 56 pictures now and the 50 pictures I had on my
camera are no longer on my camera or in the computer. Is my camera completely
ruined or what? someone help me please!!!
