Hello
my configuration:
300W PSU - Asus P4P800 - PIV Boxed 2600 not O.C. - 2x256mb ddr-400 brand
"V-Data" - GF FX5200 - Sound Blaster 128 - HDD 20 & 6.5GB, LG CD-RW and LG
CD-ROM
I've already wrote a post about 3d problems and errors (games close and
return to desktop) and about "blue screens" in some situations.
Video card is ok (it's the same I had on a PIII 866). Voltages (except 3.3V
that is 3.15-3.18) are ok.
I've tested memory with Memtest86.
It have count 646 errors after 10:42 minutes of test, then a "bip" from
internal speaker and program crashed, so I needed to reset.
In particular, Test6 [Modulo20, zeros & ones, cached] and 7 are disastrous.
Now, what's happening?
- Memory is defect (hmmm, probably it's only a module defect, in fact errors
are localized from 315MB to 460MB)
- Memory is not compliant with my MB (in fact brand "v-Data" is not present
in ddr-400 vendor list)
- CPU is defect (in fact Memtest86 wrote "Testing 80K - 511M 511M" while
testing the computer, and I don't know if Memtest was testing cache or ram!)

Sorry for post's lenght and for my English
but I need help... :-(

Best regards
Mirko

You should try each module with memtest86 separatedly, that way you will
know which one is failing (in case you have more than one; if not, probably
that module is the problem). I mean, you should physicaly remove all modules
but one, and then test it, and then do the same with the other modules.

Ok, but Memtest86 founds errors also if module is not compliant with my MB
or not? So, 646 errors found exist because module is defect or not compliant
with my motherboard? That's the bigger problem!

Use the Crucial RAM search to see what RAM is compliant,

It DOES sound like a memory problem, I had the exact same problem and when I
changed my ram, viola the problem disappeared.
