"Memory could not be read"

I get that message box a lot now a days. And it's not just that one program. It happens when I close down BitTorrent, and randomly pop-ups when running games. I suspect my PC has some kind of adware, malware spyware whatever. I ran a check with HiJackThis! And here's what I'm given:

I ran some checks with different scanners too, like Ad-aware 6, Symantec Anti-Virus, Spybot: S&D etc. But neither could solve my problem. Do I really have to go get new memory?

Please help me!

Your Log is clean of any Nasties it knows of ... your IE is old, try updating it.

I ran 42 tests with it it took around 9 hours, without any errors. Does this mean it might not be my memory?

I guess that after 9 hours and 42 tests without errors that your memory is OK.

A couple of suggestions -
Disable/uninstall Norton and try one of the free ones such as AV antivirus.
Try Smitfraud and see if that finds anything.

Alternativly, you could beg, borrow or steal another stick of memory and try that.

I've uninstalled Norton and tried switching memory sticks with my friend. The problem is still there... I wonder if something is broken... I'd like to re-install XP but I can't since I don't have a CD for that.. are there some kind of OS repair tools?

Right, Going for a shot in the dark here but........

Do you run a Star Wars Jedi Knight II dedicated server, or maybe something similer?

Why? Look at the screenshot you posted before, (Shown below) in the title bar of the error message pop up window it says jk2ded.exe. (meaning the error message is related to that.) I googled that and came up with this..... http://jk2files.jediknight.net/file.php?id=2

Or have you installed it unintentionally or something?

Try looking through your addand remove programs list and see if there is anything in there that may be related.....

:)

That pop-up is taken from when my Jedi Knight 2 Outcast server got that message, but this one pops up for other progams/games as well. I do not need to run the server for this to happen. For instance when I close BitTorrent I get that message but it says bittorrent instead of jk2ded. And when I play Oblivion it has happend 2-3 times and without my Jedi Knight 2 server running. The server is just one among many others that gives me this message... :(

ah right....Bugger....

I now see you said that previously, That will teach me not to read the thread properly.

Shame we cant fix it though...yet.

What does the text say in the message? Can you translate it? Dunno if it'll help but its worth asking. :)

I'm bad at translating stuff but here we go:

The instruction on "0x00d6d51" refered to memory on "0x00bffffc". The memory task couldn't be executed. Following error was returned: The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK if you want to quit the program.
Click on Cancel if you want to search for errors.
"

When I press cancel it doesn't search for errors... :S

[edit: edited translation slightly, now it should make sense for someone who understands it... ]
