Memory card and battery drain

I want to store my SQLCE database on a memory card. 2 questions:

1. How much will the performance suffer compared to having the database on
the Pocket PC itself.
2. Will the storage card retain its data if the battery drains out.

Probably a lot - depends on the card chip and the driver. The only way to
quantify it is to test.
