Memory cannot be read

Whenever I try to run some programs I get this error:

'The instruction at 0x77f7e22a referenced memory at 0x00be3f7c. The
memory could not be read'.

Then the offending program must be closed.

When I think about the problem appears to occur when a DNS lookup is
required. Pinging numeric IP address works okay. The problem occurs
when a host name lookup is required.

Does any one have an idea? It also seems to stop some Net related
services from working such as MySQlFront, which complains about a
socket error?

I have changed the memory in case that was the cause, but the error still arises.

I consider it to be caused by a virus or some file corruption of some sort.

Any help?

I am getting the same error, I get the error when i open my video folder then it pops up,
It also says click ok to terminate the program or click cancel to debug, From what i have been reading it may have something to do with the registry, if any one knows anything at all please email me (e-mail address removed)
