Memory being used up by hidden apps?

When i have my system running idle i seem to be using way too much ram, around 300mb out of 1gb. The thing is when i look at my Task Manager, i only have programs running that add up to about 60mb or ram. Am i missing something? what should i do?
 
Hi,

Sounds normal. Keep in mind that memory (ram) holds both data and
applications. While the processes account for some, much can be attributed
to data.
