memory alternative

I have a Canon Laser Printer LBP-4Lite with 0.5Mb onboard memory.
The printer is unusable with windows and graphics.
There is not enough memory.
Expanding the memory is very expensive.
Is it possible to use memorycards/modules from an other printer type?
Does LBP-4 share engine or memorycard with other brand or type?
Looking for a 2nd hand memory or broken printer with expanded memory
could be an alternative for me.

Windows spool module claims to
compensate for this.

Try setting your printer resolution to 300 dpi and see if that will
work. Also set the margins to 1 inch all around (top, bottom, both
sides).

That should allow it to print okay.

You are probably trying to print at 600 dpi and you just don't have
enough printer memory for that.

Thank You.
I will take a look at that see it could be an alternative.

Thank You, I will try that.
I could be wrong, but I thought max resolution was 300dpi.
But it was some time since I was looking at it and my (own) memory is
not to good (either).

I think it's time to put it out to pasture. Upgrading with what looks
like a proprietary expansion card costs much more than buying a
replacement, to to add just one Meg to your Canon costs about $100.
Sell it for $25 or give to a deserving cause (someone who just neeeds
text). Look for an HP 4 or 5 -- I recently got an HP4M (600 dpi,
PostScript)with 10MB RAM and a JetDirect card for $50.

Your printer is 300 dpi max. But you may be able to run it at 150dpi
if the drivers allow.

I had nearly identical problem - my printer was star ls-05, also with
0.5Mb. But you can be luckier because canon sold engine for printers
to other companies such as hp and apple - many parts can be exchanged
between them.
Look at www.printerworks.com, there's a list of these printers and their
parts. You could be lucky and use memory from hp printer.
My solution was another printer - hp lj4 with postscript, for about 100$
with toner - but 6Mb wasn't too enough, I needed to get simm modules with
parity :)) Now have 14Mb and no problems.
