The answer below was prompted by a report and request for help anout subject
problem. Strange that TWO computers that came with Vista pre installed are
reacting the same way to this drive....

Restarting does not change anything, but I'll send a copy of this to
Microsoft.

Dear Jaime,

We had tried to found you other options in order to use your travel drive,
one is to uninstall the travel drive then restart the computer and let the
computer install the drivers again, if that doesnt work I think you have
problems with your Vista installation and you should contact Microsoft
because we use generic drivers on the travel drives and they are plug and
play so something its corrupted on the Vista installation.

Thank you for your Inquiry about your Memorex or Imation Product. With over
50 years of service, Imation and Memorex support groups, have joined forces
to give the best support available for their products.

Do the two computers in question recognize and allow access to other memory
sticks? If the answer to that is yes, then it's a Memorex issue. However,
problems with USB memory sticks are not uncommon in Vista and there is a fix
that appears to work for many (it worked for me).

Locate the file INFCACHE.1 on the PC. You'll find it in <OS
drive>\Windows\inf

Give yourself full control of INFCACHE.1 by right-clicking on it, then
Properties->Security->Edit to add your users group with full control.
Delete INFCACHE.1

Reboot your machine, then try the USB memory stick. Hopefully, Vista will
now find and install the needed driver.

Another thing about Vista! I did as suggested (INFCACHE.1) and ONE Vista PC
(Compaq) accepted the change and recognized the TravelDrive! Great! But the
puzzler is that the OTHER PC (HP) does not reject the TravelDrive but does
not show it as available in "My Computer"... No matter, It works in the PC
that the TravelDrive was intended for. Thanks a bunch!
