I've just been having a look around the forum trying to get used to it and came across the word " Robots " in Members online now. What exactly is meant by robots ?

It's things like search engine spiders, basically non-human viewers. The most common is probably GoogleBot, the spider that Google uses to crawl the web and index pages from PCR in search engines:

Quite a few of the "guests" will be robots too, but the forum software will recognise the main crawlers and identify them correctly.
