HELP! This is driving me insane. I receive meeting
requests from other Outlook users and they are just
text. Can't open, can't Accept, can't Decline, there are
no 'Accept', 'Decline', 'Tentative' buttons anywhere.
The other Outlook users are on Exchange Server, I am
not. This isn't an Exchange only feature is it?

Ask them to send these as iCalendar
In Tools/Options/Calendar Options/Advanced Options make
sure they check the "When sending meeting requests over
the internet, use iCalendar format"
You should do the same so that your replies work for them.
If you or them use Office/Outlook 2003 I think you will
have a problem since this option is grayed out. I am
having this problem right now with my wife's computer and
trying to solve it
Good luck - please let me know if this helped

I'm having this problem as well. I use MS XP Pro with Outlook 2002, all
service patches installed. A curious thing I've noticed is that if I move
the plain text email into a folder other than Inbox, the accept/decline
buttons then appear. I use IMAP, btw. This is driving me insane!

Try running these Outlook switches:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe" /Cleanreminders

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe" /Sniff

Then send a test meeting to your users and wait 5 minutes or so. It should show up as tentative on their calendars even though the user has not opened the meeting notice. See if that helps and don't forget to get out of Outlook and then back in if necessary.

Gracie :)

PS: I'm really surprised to see SOOO many threads complaining about this issue which seems to affect Outlook 2000-2003 and yet there isn't any Knowledge Base article on Microsoft.com to be found?
