Meeting Requests sent via POP3

Twice in the past two weeks I have sent meeting requests to two associates
via my POP3 account and, in both instances, they failed to arrive and I
received no notification of failure, etc. I have reviewed the knowledge
base, etc. but have yet to find a solution.
Anybody have any suggestions?
 
A few questions for you:
- do normal mail items make it to them?
- what version of Outlook are you using?

Note: You're sending the items via SMTP actually. POP3 is only for the
receiving side of things in Internet mail
