Meeting Requests Appear as Regular Emails

I have a similar problem to David B. When a client sends
me a meeting request, it appears as a regular email...
not something I can "accept" or "decline". I am a
freelancer on a stand alone PC... OUtlook 2003. Further,
when I send a meeting request to a client, it appears to
them as a very lengthy email full of code, which they can
barely decipher. How can this be resolved? Thanks!

I found this in the help section under icalendar forma

Send an Internet (iCal) meeting reques
To send Internet (iCal) meeting requests, you must turn on the option to do so by following the procedure below. Then send meeting requests as usual.

Click Calendar.
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Calendar Options.
Under Advanced options, select the When sending meeting requests over the Internet, use iCalendar format check box. To turn off iCal, clear the check box.

Hmmm. Thank you for this, but iCal was already enabled.
Hmmm. Am trying to figure out Greg's solution re. using
the Rich Text format...

Greg - but does this mean that the person on the other
end won't be able to just click "Accept" or "Decline"?
If it appears just as text, they then have to go manually
enter the appointment on their calendar, which seems to
me to defeat the purpose! Thanks for your help. I
appreciate it!
