Hi there,

This is going to sound like one of those crank messages, but....

There is a moderately important update available for WindowsXP/Media
Player...you get this from Microsoft in the normal way.

Regards.....JK

Hi again,

That was not very clear, ....

I have done an update today using the Update option in Internet
Explorer.....The file it came up with fixes a potential security issue when
using Media Player...the fix is worth getting...

Regards.....JK

Yep, think I picked it up yesterday on Windows Update.

I'm also looking forward to next week's security patch. And the one the
week after that.

Hi there,

Thanks for your comments, I am pleased to say that the last time I saw
Mr. Jensen, he was not sarcastic in the least...I guess he would wonder why
you advertise his company and use comments like the one below. To remind
him, mention the West Midlands Police Federation and my name of course.

Regards.....JK

I was having a dig at the frequency of MS security updates. Nothing
personal - sorry if you took it that way. If you had to download several MB
of updates each week without a broadband connection I'm sure you'd
understand where I'm coming from.

I advertise his company because I work for it :-) Hadn't noticed I was
using that address on this account - thanks for alerting me to it. (His
name's not 'Jensen' by the way, that's the car company he used to work for,
and now forms part of this company's name).

Yes I remember now. It is a good many years since I spoke to him. In
fact I recomended your company just recently to some people who have a
business in your area...the connection loosely was that the one person has a
large collection of classic cars, some of which are the Intercepter...Oh
well...The point of the first message was to bring it to the attention of
those who may not be quite so worldly in matters security/media
player/updates etc

You never can be quite sure who you are speaking to Eh ?? :)

Right you are to bring updates to peoples attention - we're in the business
of computer and network support, and there are so many issues that we have
to deal with that are directly related to people failing to check for the
latest MS patches.

Cheers

Jake

p.s. you may notice that my address now contains my own domain, not my work
one :-)
