Whenever I open Media Player and play a song it shoots my
cpu usage under performance when hitting ctrl, alt, delete
up to 100 percent usage.

i've cleared my startup folder, defragged, virus scanned,
and no resolution. I've uninstalled (tried two...don't
know if i did it sucessfully) and downloaded media player
again and reinstalled....still sucks up my mem usage and
shoots the cpu performance to 100 percent. Please
help.

i have no clue what to do next

My friend...you have a bit to learn about how a computer works. Try this:
Play a tune with WMP and then bring up the Task Manager. Under the Processes
tab look for wmplayer.exe. That's your Windows Media Player at work. Now
look at the CPU column and you'll see a reasonable approximation of what
percentage of your CPU's cycles are being used by WMP at any given time.

wmplayer.exe when playing one song

CPU column:
99 mem usage fluctuates from: 27,000 to 50,000K

on the performance tab: CPU Usage 100 percent

This does not occur on my roomates computer or my
computer at work. and my computer has a bigger
everything.

Thanks for writing back...do you know what could be
causing this???

i also have trouble shutting it down.

.

as another comparison...my dell music matchbox doesn't
break 10 on CPU usage... i would rather use microsoft.
I also want to make sure that it's the wmplayer and not
something else buggin my computer.

thanks again for anyone who takes the time to respond.
