Hello, I have a strange system problem and hope that
someone can offer assistance.
I have the Media Player 9, newest DirectX and my system is
fully updated via the XP online update system.
When I click a MPG/MPEG link in IE, the Media Player will
load up and will say "Connecting..." in the bottom left
corner. It then never actually connects. Even after I
close the media player, it stays in memory and I have to
end the process with CTL-ALT-DEL.
Here is the real twist... If I download the exact same
MPEG file to my local hard drive. Then double click it
through the file explorer, it WILL PLAY perfectly!!
The media player WILL play WMV, MP3's and other files from
the net just by clicking on them. I'm MPEG crippled!!
If anyone can offer assistance, please email me at
(e-mail address removed)
I've tried about everything and I cannot get this to work
again. It used to work until about a week ago!!
Thanks!
