when I attempt to play cd's or mp3's media player always
produces the error message - "The procedure entry point
could not be located in the dynamic link library
MSDART.DLL". I have performed an os repair from the XP
CD (when it starts up an looks for previous XP
installations you have the repair option) and also
uninstalled and reinstalled media player several times.
Can anyone help with an idea of what is wrong here please?

You don't need to re-install or repair XP for this problem. Could be just a
corrupt file.

Download it from here :

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msdart

and install it in c:\windows\system32 overwriting if necessary.

Do you have SP1 installed ? If not, download and upgrade, also DirectX to
Dx9b.

Cheers,
Jerry
