Media Player mystery again

Media Player will not connect with radio stations as it used to.
When I click my old station, the application begins, and
I get the "connecting to media..." message, but it never connects.
I have no problems with it playing sounds and videos that are
on my hard disk. Another mystery is that I can't delete/uninstall
Media Player (I thought I would uninstall and re-install to see
if that might be the solution). When I try, I usually get the message
that it is being used by some other program, when it damn well
isn't!! When I actually go into the folder and try to delete the
app., it disappears for 10 or 15 seconds, then re-appears! It's
almost acting like a hijacker program or something. What's
the deal? Common problem? Thanks.

Have you check to see if your firewall is blocking WMP from accessing the
Internet??? If you have SP2 installed, you normally have its firewall running.

The only problem with that explanation is that everything ran fine just
a week or so ago, with no changes in the mean time that *should* change
things, so........

I've seen this before, it has to do w/ an incompatable hotfix being
installed. reinstall WMP10 all over again, that should fix it. get the
latest full download here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx

be sure to visit windows update after a few reboots, there was a recent
update [this week] that you should also have... latest version displayed
in About... box should be 10.00.00.4019 [note the above dl does NOT have
EVERY hotfix - you should only install a hotfix if it says it'll solve a
specific problem that you are having.]
