media player burning

There seems to be an abundance of problems from users of media player for
burning. I believe there is an issue here. I can rip and play music ok but
not burn. Usual problem error codes, eg. cood11ab. The reply about using the
help tab. Done all that. Fed up with the expenditure on more discs. Surely
someone has the answer

Yes, but sometimes fed up with people who don't look at the posted
answers, and don't provide sufficient contextual information to say
anything else.

I feel there is the familiarity of answers but not knowing what the question
is. My problem seems a recurring nightmare for many users of media player for
burning. i am windowsxp and it is Toshiba A60. My solution to end my
frustration is to purchase an independent cd burner. Otherwise all other
functions of my Media Player are running great. Visual media is excellent.
It's the dichotomy of Art and Science I'm afraid and I belong to the
former....Thanks for replies, Sydney

At present your "problem" is as vague as "I'm sick doctor, cure me".

OK.We still don't know
* the version of Media Player (there are at least 3 out in the wild)
* what error message(s) you see and when
* what you were doing at the time e.g. were you burning an AUDIO or DATA CD
* what sort of disk you were burning with

See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#netiquette for other posting guidelines.

Also see http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#xpcdburn which is a
frequently posted page of solutions to a variety of burning problems.

HI MIKE, I was Media Player 10 now 11. Using most brands of discs. now Maxell
Cd-r 52x, 700mb, 80 min. Burning audio .... Even when I insert a fresh disc
it sometimes refuses it. When burning proceeds it gets through the preparing
stage and then either closes disc on the first track to be burnt or finalises
disc on the first track to be burnt. Then it closes disc on all remaining
tracks. Sydney

I would steer clear of the v11 BETA, because almost anything could be
going wrong in a raw, incomplete release such as that. It introduces the
possibility of new issues not covered in articles such as those referenced.

If you were not having problems with v10 I would suggest rolling back to
that release.

Thanks Mike. Have reverted to Media Player 10. Took sound advice. Still
cannot burn audio. Have downloaded independent ripper/burner. This rips ok
but still no burn. Now assuming it is something else that is related to my
drive. Only a hunch. I am windows XP, Equium A60 PSA67E. Drive - MATSHITA DVD
- RAM UJ - 820S.
Because my Windows Media player 10 functions perfectly on all other issues
(visuals are 10/10 and audio playback is fine). Playing DVD media works fine
and using DVD Creator 2 is fine also. It's just the burning issue. Ta Sydney
