When I attempt to play a DVD, the video lacks clarity (almost appears to be
16 color). When I switch to a drive with XP Pro & play the same DVD, Media
Player 10 generates a beautiful video.

Thanks to those responding - any suggestions as to what I might be missing
in Media Player 9 (W2K) to correct the problem would be greatly appreciated!

I couldn't get WMP to play DVD's at all on my W2K box.

I've had to settle for the PowerDVD software that came with my
DVD drive.

I did try Rodio DVD & MSI DVD which generated results similar to those of
MP9. Is PowerDVD a step up from Roxio & MSI?

Installation of PowerDVD produced same results as MP9, Roxio (not rodio) &
MSI DVD (all of them work fine on the XP Pro drive.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong with the W2K installs (short of fresh
install)?

All I can suggest is checking your video driver.
