Media Player 9 files reappear after deletion

Trying to install version 10 of media player - installation seems to be
successful but version 9 is still installed.

Went to media player folder - manually deleted all files in this folder - 10
seconds later all of the files reappeared...?? Actually just watched the
files allcome back - weird...

Is there some type of protection that Microsoft installed to stop me from
deleting files in certain folders? I am running XP with SP2 - brand new
system.

Appreciate any help - thanks...

Hi,

SFP=System File Protection. You will find the files are also in the
\windows\system32\dllcache folder, which is used to replace missing and
corrupted system files.

OK - is there a way to shut down the service at least long enough to get the
nerw version, or do I have to manually remove the replacement files from that
folder?

Appreciate your help.

Hi,

Delete them from the dllcache folder first, then from the program folder.
