I have a problem with it when I click on a movie on the net and it will play
the movie stop and start and without sound. I have downloaded all the codec's
that I think I may need but still have the problem.

An example, I wanted to learn more about the Movie Maker 2, when I would
click on the link for a tutorial it would do the above, even when I would
download to my computer. Any ideas?
Thanks, Jim

First make sure the machine clean from malware and viruses then run disk
clean up and Defrag in safe.
Run this command:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and let it run, it will take a while and it will
may ask you about the XP CD to insert it in if it did found damaged or
corrupt files/folders.
Uninstall the WM11 and then reinstall with the firewall Disabled ( don't
forget to Enable after the installation).
Any error or just the sound issue, what about the sound device, is it
working okay when you run a CD/DVD music?.

You probably have a corrupt 'buffer folder' from a previous version of WMP.
The Options will show you the location.

The sound is working on audio cd's and music. Just not on the movies.

What happen if you on the Windows Media player clicked Tools >> Options and
make sure under this tab all checked:
File Type:
Check all the Music file type to be played by the WMP.

AVI files are just wrappers for various different file types - so, it
sounds like you lost access to some codecs.

I would recommend simply reinstalling wmp 11 on top of your current
install - do not remove it first. This should fix up most issues.

for more insight, read thru this excellent site on WMP:

http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html

it has a link to the latest full installer, get it and run it. save it
for the future too. afterwards you should review the options and put them
back to your personal prefs.

bookmark it too...
