Hello,

Europe "Vista Editions N" don't have included the media player. Where can I
download it?

thanks

Edition what?
You cannot download Media player for Vista.
Either it is part of vista or it is not.
The only downloadable one is NOT for Vista.

Hi Hillbilly,

we in Europe have a special Edition of Windows OSes. Like Windows XP N, is
Windows XP without Mediaplayer, but you can still download it and install it
:). So i hope there will be soon a download for it... maybe???

You need to contact Mario the little Italian Dictator of the EU
Commission and ask him what to do cause he's the one responsible for
this fiasco.

WMP11 for Vista N users should be downloadable from Windows Downloads at
some point. It is too early because Vista N launch is still in the future
and may be later than the January 30, 2007 general public launch for the
other editions. MS has promised a Vista N in compliance with EU
requirements, but that it might not be available as soon as the other
editions.

I don't like N

Wehere is de freedom??

Next week, Microsoft will go two years and eight months without respecting
the orders dictated by the European Commission in March, 2004. Brussels
hopes uselessly since then that the computer multinational the technical
necessary documentation presents in order that other companies can design
products compatible with his operative system Windows.

The European police station of Competence, Neelie Kroes, who already
punished in July this disobedience with a fine of 280,5 million Euros,
demanded yesterday to the company that ' it corrects before November 23 the
remaining omissions and deficiencies(faults) that still(yet) this
information presents '. Kroes's department admits that there have been
substantial progresses from July, ' but till now still(yet) we have not
received completes the documentation relative to the protocols that need to
expire with the Decision of 2004 '.

Redmond's company emitted at once a communique offering to ' to realize the
additional necessary work to him(you, them) to expire with the decision of
the Commission '. ' It is very simple for what we ask ', was necessary on
his(its) part(report) the official speaker of the headquarter of Competence
of the CE. ' We need the totality of the documentation, because if it is not
complete it is as if they had not presented anything '. The same source
denied to inspect on the close one to develop of the events if Microsoft
continues ignoring the requirements of Brussels. But it assured that ' our
aim is that expire totally and we will adopt all the necessary measurements
in order that it is like that '.

Daily fines

Brussels, in anticipation of which it was continuing the contempt, already
raised in July of two to three million Euros the daily fine that it can
impose on Microsoft if it does not complete the documentation. The fine
would start counting from July 31. The CE is reserved besides the right to
sanction to the company if as soon as the documentation is available it
imposes a few disproportionate prices for the competitors who want to use
it. Brussels already has sanctioned two times to Microsoft. In 2004, it
imposed a fine of 497 million Euros, the major one of history of the
community politics of competence, for abuse of domineering position. And in
July, Microsoft turned also the first company that was fitting a fine for
desobedecer the orders of the CE.

B. M. / BRUSELAS (16-11-2006)

Just get one of the other editions. Just because you live in Europe you dont
have to buy the "N" edition, indeed hardly anyone bought the N edition of
XP. Hardly any retailer has it in stock and it is the same price as the
usual version of XP. I assume it will be the same for the Vista edition.

Exactly. I am all pro Europe but these requirements for Microsoft are just
rediculous. We can only protest by never, never installing N products. I mean
com'on, what's the point in getting less for the same amount of money? It's
not that with N you can use 3rd party software that you cannot with non-N.

What the heck is wrong with including things that previously you had to buy
separately? Backup, spy defenders, firewalls, media players, zip
functionality, video editing, CD/DVD burning. OK, it's limited compared to
full fledged products but at least it gets you started.

Think about the amount of money spent by Microsoft for developing a special
version for EUR. Who's ultimately going to pay for it? Yes, us, the consumers.

what is your native language? i may be able to make it easyer on you, i know
quite a few european languages also i live in the uk which kind of helps

So, if you speak German and live in the UK, this is going to help the OP
with downloading WMP 11 for Vista? How?

Just a question for my own information. Isn't N an OEM product? I keep
hearing that it is not a retail boxed product. Which way is it?

It was supposed to be a full retail product but as not many retailers can be
bothered to stock it, I dont think many people have seen it! There must be a
huge pile of them somewhere should make a good monument to European
bureaucracy/stupidity.
Alan (in the UK :) )

You mean apart from it allowing the OP to perhaps find it easier to ask
the question in his native language?

Why do you think "i know quite a few european languages" means 'I speak
German'?
