Media Player 10 issue?

Using Windows Media Player 10. Everytime I play music tracks that are locally
on my computer the media player says "Connecting". I've bought tracks from
Musicmatch in the past so I'm assuming it's connecting there for some reason
even though the tracks are locally on my drive. Does anyone know how to stop
this? I'm running Windows XP. Broadband internet connection. All hotfixes
that MS update says my computer needs are installed. Thanks much!
 
Tools>Options>Player
Under Updates, uncheck "Check once per day" and check
once per week.
