Have you tried Vista RC2 to see if this problem has been resolved? Maybe try
a system restore before the problem started happening.

I am running Windows vista RC1

i have a Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II (26xxx)

whenever i try to record a show if media centre is not already on the
channel it crashes and doesn't record.

and now just recently i accidently hit the power button on my power bar
while running media centre and now whenever i attempt to watch live tv media
centre crashes

If you own an MSDN or Technet Subscription you can obtain RC2. What was the
solutin if you don't mind sharing.

I checked and the solution was to go to some non microsoft forum, I have RC1
how do I get RC2? I have also tried rolling the system back a few days and
that didn't work.

I just tried installing XP Codec Pack 2.0.6.exe to see if that could resolve
the issue and I got errors about not being able to update these files:
C:\Windows\system32\ffdshow.ax
C:\Windows\system32\RealMediaSplitter.ax
c:\Windows\system32\VSFilter.dll
C:\Windows\system32\ac3filter.ax
C:\Windows\system32\AviSplitter.ax
C:\Windows\system32\oggsplitter.ax
C:\Windows\system32\MatroskaSplitter.ax

Also when I try to watch media centre files in media player, it tells me I
don't have enough memory
