Media Center no longer works

I installed SP2 and now my media center no longer works. I have an HP
computer and they say that I have to update some drivers before I can install
SP2.
My question is; Isn't that what Windows Update is for? Now it seems that I
have to uninstall SP2 (which may bring other issues) and then MANUALLY
update all the various drivers and then install SP2 again? What is the
purpose of windows update then if I have to do this all by myself?
Why didn't SP2 installer tell me that there are drivers that are not
compatible?
Has anyone had this issue? What problems am I going to encounter when I
update Media Center driver manually and then install SP2?

Frustrated,

SG

Its always a good idea to visit the support web site of
the manufacturer of your computer before installing
in major Service Packs.

Additionally, drivers have to be certified/verified, by the vendor before they are included on Windows Update or any Windows installation media. Many vendors do not do complete this process, so their drivers will not be listed on Windows Update or included in a Service Pack.
