Hi all,

this morning I did install SP3 on my PC. I didn't get any errors during the
install.
But if I want to start media center I keep getting the following error
message.

"strong name validation failed for assembly
c:\windows\ehome\ehshell.exe. The file may have been tampered with or it was
partially signed but not fully signed with the correct private key"

Yesterday (with SP2 Media center was working fine).
I do have a completly legal version of XP media center edition.
Uninstalling SP3 did not solved this problem.
Does anyone has a solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance

Mine did the same thing. If you find a solution please let me know! I have
been using my system fine for a LONG time so I have alot of data I don't want
to lose if I have to use the Dell Restore CDs to put it back to original
factory...

Hi,

I will keep you informed. But until now I see more people with the same
problem and Microsoft doing absolutly nothing. They are blaming everyone for
the problems concerning SP3 except themselves. So you might end up using the
Dell restore CD's.

i am having the same problem, it says that my media center is corrupted, and
it generates a crash repoort. My wife is mad, and i am embarassed.

There's one for SP3 now -

| If you can't find a solution to the particular error instead of

I am having the same problem has anybody come up with a solution? Even
uninstalling SP3 doesn't work and Microsoft is no help keep claiming it's not
a SP3 problem funny Media Center was working fine prior to the install tried
to uninstall SP3 but started having other problems besides Media Center not
working had to reinstall SP3 just to get my machine to work right again. Any
help would be appreciated

Well I got mine working I uninstalled Media Center Rollup 2 and Media center
starting working than tried to reinstall but it the update keeps failing
apparently SP3 and rollup 2 have a conflict. See if Microsoft creates a fix
now.

Hi, My computer did the exact same thing, but it also will not let me install
2 rollups for media center edtion they are KB900325 and KB925766 . I need
them to install windows media player 11 and since the sp3 it will not let me
install them either ?? Any help is appreciated Thanks, Mike

xp media center no longer work after installing sp3

windows xp media center no longer work after installing sp3
would like to reinstall media center.

upgraded sp2 to sp3,since then error message c:\windows\ehome\eshell.exe. The file may have been tampered with or it was partially signed with the correct private key.
Looking on problem pages I notice others have this problem back to 2008!!
Is there an answer, & if so what is it??
