After having bought a card reader for my XP, I find that I
can not access any disks.

The power light comes on, and when I insert my disk, the
green light comes on, to which a popup ask's me if I want
to format my disk, chosing yes or no has no effect.
At times I do get an error code87

I believe that the generic driver is the problem, however,
I do not know how to remove it,or what else it may be.

I have this problem with another card reader, which also
used the generic driver.

Any Ideas?

What media reader is this? Since virtually all are supposed to be supported
by the "generic" USB Mass Storage driver - if Windows reports an error, it's
usually some sort of hardware conflict or driver issue with your USB
controller. You may want to check with the reader's manufacturer for more
help.

I am using XpPro-Sp1a. I have not recieved any conflicts
or driver issue reports. The reader is a SandiskSDDR-88, 8
in 1.
This unit is an external reader, with a usb-2.0
connection.
