If you go to...My Computer...does the
reader show up as a "Removable Disk" ?

Place your memory card in the
reader and go to My Computer.

Left click each Removable Disk
until a folder pops up with pictures
in it. Now you can...Copy/Paste or
Drag/Drop the files to a folder on
your hard drive.

Once you identify the Removable
Drive you can right click it and go to...
Properties / AutoPlay tab...left click
the "Restore Defaults" button /
Apply / OK.

Now when you insert the card...maybe
the AutoPlay screen will open and you
can choose what you wish to do with
your pictures.

What type of memory card are you using?

Have you formatted the card using your computer?

I don't have a specific solution for you and can
only offer some ideas.

The adapter may be the problem. Have you
tried connecting your camera by USB to see
if the card would be recognized?

Could you try the stick in a different computer
to see if you get the same result? Even on a
display model in a retail store...most have
media readers installed now.

Beyond that...maybe the following articles will
offer some ideas:
