ME to XP: delete restore files?

Several weeks ago, I upgraded my son's WinME to XP Pro (and later added SP2).

All seems to be working fine. As a result of an MBSA warning, I converted his FAT32 drive to NTFS. Now I know that once I've made the conversion, I can't go back. I also know that WinME won't work on an NTFS drive.

So my question is: is there any reason to keep the ME restore files at C:\_RESTORE? There's 1.5G of files there I'd like to delete (10% if his HD).

Can I safely delete these files?

After the conversion to ntfs the files are no good, delete them.At some point,
if reinstalling xp,or you want a clean install of xp,boot to the xp
cd,select,
install xp,new copy.XP doesnt need or use the ME software.

Is there a proper way to do this? I can use file manager and simply delete the _RESTORE folder, or there an option under one of the disk management tools to have Windows delete the unnecessary files?

Thanx

There should be a selection in Add or Remove Programs to delete the previous or backed up version of Windows.

Thanx -- I just tried that, and all I see is an option to remove SP2
(and of course any of the other installed programs), but nothing else
for Windows.

I also looked under "add / remove Windows components", and did not see
anything there about removing old restore files, either.
