I would like to use the same MDW file for many different
mdb's. What are the limitations as to the number of users
the MDW file can handle?

Can you be more specific?
Do you mean:
1.) the number of users that have security defined in the MDW
or
2.) the total number of users that are accessing databases that use the same MDW file?

Although I've never read anything regarding this, I'd have to I think that
you'll run into the limitations of how many users an Access application can
handle looong before you run into a problem with the number of users you can
store and manage with an .mdw file. All an .mdw file does is store Users and
their Passwords and Group Memberships ... actual object permissions are
stored in the database.

AFAIK you can define whatever number of users you want, in a single
workgroup file.

And you can start however many databases you want, under the control of that
workgroup file.

But a single database file has an absolute maximum of 255 users logged-on
simultaneously to that particular database.
