I have Office XP Developer. I'm trying to remember what can be done with regard to compiling a distributable db app for users who
don't have Access. Is it an "MDE"? I know that something can be done, but I don't remember what it is or what the limitations are.
My users are salesmen who need to develop quotes for prospects and save the quote info for any given prospect for recall later. I'm
concerned about the ability to distribute something where the users can do this.

Can anybody help to refresh my memory and give me any ideas?

Thanks !

You need to distribute the Access run-time, which is included with Office XP
Developer. An MDE is a compiled version of your application, which prevents
users from seeing or modify forms, reports, and code.

I did a similar thing over a year ago. I have XP Developer and had all kinds
of trouble using the Package and Deploy wizard that comes with it. It seems
that all the developer edition is good for is allowing you to distribute the
Access runtime (which allows an access Db to run on a machine without
Access). In the end I purchased two further software packages that work
together to make it all work correctly. They were; SageKey scripts, and Wise
Installation ....something. Paying all that money for Developer, and then
having to pay more to make it work as it should did not endear me to
Microsoft. Good luck.
