MDE Files

I have an ACCESS file I'm packaging as a runtime
application for distribution. I have converted the mdb
file into an mde file before proceeding. My question is:

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of restricting the
users ability to open all the tables, Queries, etc.
through the Database window on the toolbar? I know the
mde removes access to all the codes but I don't want
someone editing a table or query directly. All tables
are loaded from input menus and direct entry can cause
program errors. Is there some way of either password
protecting the Database window or hiding what's behind
this?

Thank you in advance,

William Jewell

I usually just have a custom menu bar, and turn off the shift by-pass key.
This will pretty well hide everything.

The results requires only a few mouse clicks.

I have a sample mdb file that is my word merge example. I also have a sample
of that with a menu bar that I made, and it hides/restricts users from
looking at the database window etc. Try downloading this quick short
example. (it is a2000 format).

(grab the 3rd example). Since it is a mdb, then you can open it up and take
a look at it, and see how I set this up.

If the above was a mde file, of course it would be further locked down. And,
throwing in it as a secured file can even further protect it.
