I have created a mde database with Access 2000. I have upgrade to Office
XP. Since then, when I click a button a receive an error message
mentionning that something is missing. But when I use the mdb database, all
buttons are working perfectly.

I try to convert the database to Access 2002 to create the mde in 2002
format. When I click to make the mde, I always receive the message that the
mde could not be created. Without any error number.

Can someone tell me how I can use my mde database with Office XP?

Thanks for your help.

Access 2002 can only make an MDE from a database that is in the 2002 format.
Use Tools | Database Utilities | Convert to convert into the 2002 format.

The "somehing is missing" error may refer to a missing library, and this may
relate to the fact that you have upgraded. Before releasing the MDE, open a
code window and choose References from the Tools menu. Deselect any
libraries you are not using. This way there is less chance of the
application breaking. More info on references:

There is a real problem when creating MDEs for use on
other computers as you cannot rely on the libraries etc
being consistent across computers. With an MDE you cannot
open it up and set the References manually. You must be
running the same version of Access on both computers
(although Access 2002 is more forgiving) AND have the same
versions of all References the same on both computers. The
ONLY way to do it successfully (generally but there are
gotchas) is to create a distribution disk using Access
developer.
If distributing the runtime be very careful to read the
documentation.
