MDAC Install Problem

I have a system running XPPro/SP2 which, when we run the install for MDAC
2.8 (the mdac_type.exe file) gives an error: "This setup does not support
installing on this operating system." The install is set for installing on
Windows XP only. All other aspects of the install seem to run normally. In
experimenting with solutions we found that changing the Compatibility tab
(in the mdac_type.exe properties) to use Win NT compatibility mode allowed
the package to be installed?

This system had been upgraded from WinNT quite a while ago. This seems to
suggest that the MDAC install is being confused by some artifact from the
old WinNT environment? Installing on "new" WinXP systems has never had this
problem.

Does anyone know exactly what is causing this and possible solutions?

I'm not sure but I know it does not include the Inerops. I believe they are
required when you use .NET 2.0 projects that include reference to older
objects like ADOX?

Yes, the interop assembly for ADOX is required. See my reply to your previous post.

MDAC is pre installed on XP.
