MCI command handling window winlogon error

Franklin

This is the error I get whenever I try to logon unto XP.
The title says:
"MCI command handling window: winlogon.exe -Application
Error" with the message "The instruction at '0x01a2116e'
referenced memory ar'0x64c0ffff'. The memory could not
be 'read'.
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"
I KNOW I DO NOT HAVE VIRUSES. School is about to start so
I though I should format the system that had been
functioning fine for over 6 months. I am also running Win
2k on another HD on the same system. I have never had any
problems with Win 2k. So far, I reformatted the HD and
install XP twice, but after I install all my apps, I get
the error mostly if I type in wrong password during
Logon. Once I click OK, then I can't shut down the system.
Please, anyone with knowledge, help me. Is this a known
issue with any application.
Thanks for your time.
