I have been trying to dump Mcafee anti-virus software and their firewall
software. When I tried to automatically uninstall the anti-virus
software (version 6.02.3000), it erred out, and when I rebooted, I got
the message - The TCP/IP network transport is not installed. I did
manage to manually uninstall it after restoring my C: drive from a
recent backup.

However, when I try to uninstall the Firewall software (version
3.01.1010.0) which I think is several years old, automatically, I get
the same TCP/IP message as above. You can't get support from McAfee
without paying $$ for it. I checked under my network and it said that
TCP/IP is already installed.

Can anyone help getting the firewall off my system? I feel that McAfee
deleted a file or two and didn't restore the originals. Any ideas? I am
running ME.

It's just a suggetion, but I would take the FW software and install it
over the top of itself and see if it hooks everything back-up so that it
can uninstall itself properly without any issues.

Head over to www.mcafeehelp.com, and in their help system, you can access
info on how to uninstall their older products. You'll probably need to
choose 'Show All Products' to access information on the older anti-virus and
firewall products.

I had to resort to the manual uninstall method with version 5 of the
anti-virus program, due to a change in the Windows Installer program. It
wasn't pretty; start in safe mode, a lot of delete entries in the registry &
reboots, but if you are slow and careful, you can get their products
uninstalled.

Hope this helps.
