My McAfee used to be running in the background ,now its not (Its still under

McAfee is too bust to respond to my enq.
When I try to run McAfee to scan my disk something kills McAfee stright away
..
I have ran stinger from McAfee sight and nothing was found -ene ran the
norton free doneload and he did not find anything - Same with Ad-Ware..

Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it.

Thanks

There are a number of malwares that disable various security software.
You could try running McAfee in Safe mode to scan your drive. However,
if McAfee didn't prevent the malware from being installed in the first
place, it may not be up to date enough.

Try the Sys-Up download from my web site. After it downloads SysClean
and the data file, Run sysclean in Safe mode. Let us know how you make
out.

Run at least one of these free online virus scan programs,

RAV http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/

Panda: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

BitDefender http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/license.php

After you are sure the machine is clean, download and install
SpywareBlaster(free) to help keep it that way,
be sure and click the "Update" button after you install it.

You are describing the symptoms of the MyDoom virus. I would suggest going
to another computer and downloading Stinger from McAfee, putting it on a
floppy and running it on your computer under Windows. With MyDoom on your
computer you will not be able to download it because it will block the
McAfee website.

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ is a website you can obtain Stinger from.
