Andrew, just when I think you can't get any worse you come up with
something like this. The OP should *not* disable her antivirus. Not
only will this *not* help with popups, it will leave her machine
vulnerable.

Sarab - You probably have more than one popup blocker installed. See
what your settings are in Internet Explorer (if that is the browser you
are using). See if you have the Google Toolbar or some other
third-party popup blocker. Do *not* turn off your antivirus from
Services.

Malke, your solution certainly sounds safer than Andrews! Although I'm
still not clear what to do.....under tools in Internet Explorer, I have
turned off pop-up blocker. and under mcafee, i un-checked the pop-up
blocker there as well. if i have a third blocker elsewhere, i haven't
the foggiest where to look?

i can hear the sound associated w/ the pop-up blocker when the pop-ups
are denied. just can't figure out how to un-block

Without looking at your machine, I can't say but perhaps you have a
third blocker from your ISP? Another security program that includes
popup blocking like SpySweeper? You'll have to examine the programs
that you have installed and running on your computer. Try using the
System Configuration Utility to identify what is running:

Try holding down the Ctrl when you click on a link that's being
blocked. If the page is displayed, it's a good sign that you've
got some other pop-up blocker in place.

Since your Dell came with McAfee Internet Security Suite you
might want to check the settings under the Privacy Service. I
believe it has a popup blocking feature.

Good luck
