mcafee vs avast home

not includeing price witch one is better?

Avast! by far. Habe tried McAfee (and other BIG commercial ones).
Avast! is the best so far (interface, possibilities, CPU usage).

It depends if you want virus protection or less resources used on your
computer. Their are many independant reviews of the products and
Avast! consistently comes out below the others in actual protection.
You decide.

Huuuu... They often beat the big ones too. And have several awards.

Also--haven't heard/read abut anyone getting caught with a virus using
Avast. I like the frequent auto updates and the fact that it hasn't been
intrusive at all. The only negative is that you have to make your own
System Restore points as Avast stops those. Not that much of an
inconvenience.

Does Avast help with spyware etc, and does it have a built-in Fire-wall like
McAfee? I use the McAfee 2004 suite, because it helps to stop Spyware etc,
and it has a fire-wall and a clean-up function, but I am not 100% sure it
does all it says it does? I am desperately looking for the best all-rounder
AV with a built in Fire-wall but I have only got until the 14th of this
month to decide what to buy as my year is up with McAfee. the good thing is,
I can renew it for around £21.00. I would love a bit of advice on this,
thanks.

Avast can find some some spyware. It doesn't have a buit-in firewall.
I use the McAfee 2004 suite, because it helps to stop Spyware etc,

Why would you want a built-in firewall, a suite? My experience has been
that suites do some things well and other things not so well.

I can recommend the Kerio firewall. It works dependably. I have Norton
2005 until the end of the month. After that I will install Avast! v.
4.6. It has worked well for me in the past. Sometime in the fourth
quarter I will pay up and buy NOD32. I don't hear any complaints
regarding NOD.

There is no advantage having all-in-one. Then you can be SURE you
con't have the best of everything. I use avast! antivirus,
FreeZoneAlarm firewall, Spybot S&D and ad-aware for spy-searching.

All are free, and all are the best you can get. Recommend them all.

I have been using Avast for over 6 months and it has *not* interfered
with restore points under XP pro.
