For the past several days, every time I manually update McAfee VirusScan I
get, " You have successfully installed VirusScan...remove CD and restart. "
I emptied my temp folder, ran the uninstall tool and then uninstalled Sec.
Center. I reinstalled VS and I still have to restart the computer every
time it seems to need an update. I don't see any true updates in the DAT
because the DAT file remained at 4838 since 8/25. I manually check for
updates each day -- auto update is turned off. I now run the update check
several times each day just to see if it is requiring an update. It says
that an update is available about every 8-12 hours. Since I reinstalled 2
days ago, there hasn't actually been a DAT update above 4838 installed when
I restart after updating. I watch the update process and it downloads a lot
of stuff before it directs me to restart the computer. Today the DAT file is
now at 4839, but I was still told to restart the computer after the update.
I rarely had to restart after any type of update till last week.
Any Ideas. McAfee tech said to uninstall all of these programs:
AdawareEasy cleaner.
Livereg
liveupdates
Norton Ghost
Norton SystemWorks 2003
Norton Utilities 2003 for Windows
ZoneAlarm
None of these are loaded when I do an update! I don't plan to uninstall all
of these.
McAfee VirusScan -- Comcast free version
Build 10.0.27
Engine 5100
DAT 4839
Thanks, Mike
