Hi Ron

How do you handle all of these wild notebooks running around with
no time to update ? The owner says he have no time for Windowsupdate
;)

When these wild horses return to their home WiFi area everything
collaps as with CNN. They must be set in "Quarantine" in some way !?

F-Secure wrote about this problem beacuse of latest outbreak.

Hi Plun,
I hate 'sneaker.net' ,but if it were necessary, that's the way it would go.

Notebooks of today are the floppy of yesteryear when they come in (infected)
and are hooked up behind the firewall.

First, we have our wireless areas set in a separate VLAN,and a tightly
restricted vlan for 'public' wireless.
Should you come in with CAT5 or VPN, your machine must go thru a health
checkup before it is validated to the network.
There are some public license programs that can assist such as NetReg
(http://www.netreg.org/) , and there are the ones you can buy that are more
configurable for checking patches AV state et al.

Our only infection streams from Blaster were traced to unpatched notebooks
coming in, and we filled that hole quickly.

Hi

Well, thats sound good.
Thank you for info about netreg, seems to be a handy admin tool.

Nevertheless, these "wild horses" are a problem :')
