McAfee slow to load

Hello all,

Running Win XP Home-
McAfee Vscan 6.02.03 Engine 4.3.20-

It takes a very long time for the program to load when booting machine up.

I have another computer 1 year newer same confige and it load very quickly.

Any Ideas?

Is the older machine ---

-- up to date on all patches?
-- same memory, HD performance as newer?
-- loading same programs at start-up?

Do you have McAfee set to perform any scans or checks at start-up? It
could be that the copy on the older machine is doing more. Even if the two
machines are "identical" in most every respect, I can think of two causes
for slower performance on the older machine:

1) more files to check
2) much greater fragmentation on the older machine

That last listed item is one of the first things I'd check, unless you
defragment regularly and frequently.
