McAfee RED M

I'm using McAfee 9.1 On bootup the M in my taskbar starts as RED but
changes to BLACK when startup is complete. In the McAfee suite I have
Spamkiller disabled. Is this why the M is black?

with vs 8, if you double click teh M icon, a window opens that will show,
amongst other things, "My service status" which shows if viruscan is
operating or not. I only ever see the icon go black when I disable it.
 
I have VirusScan 9 and the same thing happened today. I fixed it by going
into ;
security centre>virusscan>configure virusscan options> uncheck active
shield>re-check active shield.

Also make sure that you participate in the virusscan online "Virus Map
Reporting". I disabled this about a week ago, but soon had to enable it
again because it disabled virusscan.

I found similar problems with the suite.
Annoying little bugs like that.
My icon went black when I disabled spam killer, I disabled scam killer
because I couldn't get e-mail without opening the spam program first.
In the end I decided to get my money back on the program. I'd had the
program installed for only four days.

Sometimes it will disable if a major update is happening and then it
will change to red afterward.
