McAfee interfering with USB printing!

I run a Sony VAIO 900 mHz with Windows ME and Mozilla Firefox.
My Epson printer (with serial connection) died, so I bought a Lexmark
with USB. When printing email or a web page, it would take 5 minutes
for the spool icon to show up and then the page would print! Finally,
I tried disabling McAfee virus scan offline and then tried to
print--the icon
showed up in 2 seconds and the job printed fine! McAfee never
interfered
with my Epson serial jobs. Why is it screwing up now? I got the
latest
Lexmark drivers. I noticed that McAfee was scanning outgoing email,
too, and found a way to shut that off, but didn't see a switch for the
scanning of print jobs...

you could just remove mcafee and try an alternative, most people including
myself are using avg because its free and very good.

I have not seen that issue before, It could be something built into
resident scanning, work dumped mcafee a couple years ago for NOD32 so I'm
not up to date at all on it, but if you turn that off your disabling all
realtime scanning.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Exclude the spool folder from scanning.
