I just install five licence ver 7 of McAfee. I install on the one computer
that had internet access. I was able to succesfully download all new def and
upgrade the ver. .No other computeron the network has a modem install.

I'm told by Mcafee that without a modem they can not be upgraded and there
is no other option. This seems pretty analog to me. Should every compurt on
a network have a modem ?

Thanks

What was the original version 7.02 and is it version 7.02 or 7.03 as
supplied. Is it vs7 home or professional?

The dats are available manually if you want them and I can get you the 7.03
patch download site as well if you wish it.

Re the updating seems the way though have you tried getting net access
through the modem pc via ICS or similiar thats is how I get on the net and
update my client vs7.

If you need more info email me but you need to remove nospam from the name.

In Enterprise v4.5.1 you could setup a system as a "mirror site" that the other platforms
can update from.

It appears this was removed in v7.x.

You may need the "McAfee AutoUpdate Architect" software.

Not sure what version you have (I have VirusScan Enterprise 7.0.0), but I
set up a mirror task with the 'VirusScan Console' and set it to mirror to
the network. Other clients have that location added as their update location
and all is OK
hope it helps

Or you could schedule an FTP script to get the SDAT from NAI then post that
to a common location. The clients could then run a scheduled job to run the
SDAT and update?
