MBR reset?

S

Stace

How can I reset the MBR on an XP box? I installed redhat
for a school project and grub overwrote my boot record,
and I have no use for RH now and want to remove it - but
can't, because my MBR is fubar.

PLEASE email me if you reply to this post, simply because
I know these forums get a lot and I'll never find my own
answer. ([email protected])

thanks!

You need to replace the master boot record. Boot your
computer with your XP startup disk and go into rescue
mode. You want to access the command line interface. At
the prompt, type "FDISK /MBR" (without quotes). This will
replace your master boot record.

Hi!
To write a new boot sector to a drive, type fixboot. This will write a
new boot sector to the current boot drive. To create a new MBR ,type fixmbr.
