Sigh, I can not figure out how to repair/restore the MBR on my Toshiba
Satellite notebook PC. Used to be easy with WinXP, I just popped in my
legal copy of WinXP and chose the option, or in a command prompt typed
fixmbr. But with Vista and a Toshiba laptop that has recovered CDs
(two) I am clueless. I have tried the recovery CD, but it looks like
it wants to toast the system, wipe everything, to do this. No option
to restore MBR.
This all came about when earlier today I installed XUbuntu Linux 8.04.
But I want linux off my system, it is gone, but its GRUB bootloader
remains. I can boot into Windows VISTA, but I would prefer to just get
rid of that linux grub bootloader and restore the Vista MBR
bootloader. But how do I fix the Vista MBR using recovery CDs that
came with the laptop? Sigh. Any help greatly appreciated.
